To the left of the plant in bottom right front (!) is the one I thought might be Nandina. Whatever . . . Nandina will be an excellent choice - evergreen and pretty leaves all year round (plus whitish flowers and red berries). Do you also know Epimedium? they're great in shade too. :)

Im a great fan of epimediums too M. Ive only seen yellow and pink flowering ones though.
