Sky over the Monastery

At maximum zoom with the camera. Gorton Monastery was in the world top ten of most endangered buildings, right up there with the Taj Mahal....I thought the sky was stunning though.

The light is so striking, I would have guessed either much earlier or much later. Wonderful blocks of shade there......

What kind of monastery was it? Are there still monks/nuns?

A Franciscan Monastery...No kat, no monks or nuns are left here.
It is called the Angel Centre now.

Thank you for the link. I read it as it is interesting, yet a common story. Very sad, if you take that the monastery is just around hundred years old - so not so old as let say Valley of Kings or Taj Mahal. But it had fortunately good end. Still, when I watch ruins and then their renewed buildings, I canĀ“t get rid of feeling that something is missing, something definitely lost.
