Good morning Sue, It is cute isnt it. You do have to keep these separate don't you, unless you want to have hundreds !! Says she who learnt the hard way !!

Me too Sylvia, when we had Fi Fi, she was smaller than Honey, and gave birth to four...and we thought the other one was a female too..didn't find out till too late, so we did separate...

I thought Paul how like a Hampster it looked while small like this...I do hope she is a girl...

Crissue, I saw on the news how over run the vets are with unwanted guinea pigs, and they said that the female has a 'Y' shape and the male has an 'I' shape and that the female is ready to breed at THREE weeks ......I WOULD TAKE ANOTHER LOOK. There was one lady that they mentioned started off with 2 thinking they were the same sex and in the end she had landed with 240 or so......Dont want to worry you or anything!!

Hi Lin, I searched Google for the info on the babies, they display pics of what Male/females look like, and it's true about the Y and I...I did have another look at both Mum and baby and they look very similar, so I am hoping...Google says it's the males that are ready at 4 weeks...
I think that lady was very remiss in allowing her guinea pigs to breed like that, when our Fifi and Ginger, bred for the first time we separated them, and then rehomed all the babies...no more probs...

The only thing different in the colouring between Mum and baby Hb is Honey has black on her ears...but they are a lovely sandy colour...

Lets hope they are the same sex Sue, they are so pretty, it would be lovely for you to be able to keep them both, especially them being Mum and daughter. :o))

The thing with me Lin is, that I worry as to where the baby would go, and what sort of home he/she would have, people often seem ok, but.....so I will probably keep baby..and ask OH to set up some sort of housing if they do turn out to opposite sexes...
