Little nut .) :) Love him. Hahaha. She was pregnant when you bought her, right? It often happens to guinea pigs. You can never be sure, hahaha.

Trouble is, if theres a male in sight she gets pregnant straight away.

Did you see that American comedy Doctor Dolittle, who was a vet who found that he can understand what animals are saying. There was such scene in which guine-pig introduced herself "hello, I have hundreed children annually" , lol. Lot of joy is expecting you, Crissue, hahaha.
By the way, I love them, those kids of guinea pigs. They are little miracles, as they are totally prepared for life after birth, not like rabbitts.
What will be his name?

It's funny, there were two males and Honey when we bought her, and the young man said then, it's possible she could be pregnant, jokingly...so I said if she is I am bringing the babies to you...

I think Nutella is good, unless any other ideas...It's true Kat they are totally prepared for life...

How cute! :)

That's true Kat, as long as he/she is the same sex as mum, we'll keep, if not we'll have to find a new home...shame, but we have not room for two cages...

she is really sweet.

Many years ago, my little brother had a very pretty young female guinea pig called Cleo, and he decided she was lonely, so wanted to get another to keep her company. OK, said my parents, as long as it's another female so we aren't overrun with babies. Step in clever-clogs big sister, (me) who, as a zoologist thought she knew it all, and declared that a very pretty grey Peruvian in the pet shop was definitely another female. Little brother buys it, takes it home and puts it in with Cleo, who immediately becomes the victim of a very enthusiastic and violent date-rape. G. pigs are quite difficult to sex, apparently. I didn't know that.
Result. One reviled sister, two inconsolable, crying and separated guinea pigs, one of them by now pregnant, and the other extremely frustrated.
50 years on, and I still haven't been allowed to forget that one.........

you arent bringing any of them over here with you are you gattina??

15 Apr, 2012

Nice story Gattina...I have been on the internet this morning looking at the sexing of the babies, I think it's better to wait until he/she is two weeks old, before looking again judging by the pics I saw...they are more pronounced then, in the meantime, we'll enjoy watching the interaction between Mummy, and baby....

Some animals in our lives are just unforgettable, Gattina. In contrast to humans, we remember almost exclusively animals because they made our lives a bit nicer.

Crissue, is it possible to upload more pictures of Nutella Nutelissima?

What, the 50 year old guinea pigs, Sticki? Probably not.

15 Apr, 2012

my cat would love it!!

15 Apr, 2012

Sticki, my last one FiFi, used to go into the garden everyday when fine and warm...and play hide and seek with the Cats, no problems there at all...Even now, One or the other lays on top of the Cage, and sleeps...
