Many of the Jacaranda tree are flowering now. They start blooming in late March - June. Photo taken in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on May 3, 2012.

Yes, they are planted here by the millions.
The flowers actually show up better when the photo is taken in cloudy weather.

This tree really is that spectacular. Typically, the first bloom in spring, the trees have no leaves and a lot more flowers. I'll be getting some better photos of Jacarandas soon. :>)
