So excited about this plant, I collected the seed from a park in Hammersmith in 2009, we went to see Mott The Hoople at the Apollo, hubby's favourite group:-), and had a lovely walk round a park and garden there, the gardeners were cutting plants back so asked if I could have some seed from this as it looked interesting, around 3ft tall with strappy leaves, didn't have a clue what it was, but the seeds grew and now have buds, some sort of iris I think?

I'm excited now Meanie, just googled Moraea, really hope thats what it is, the leaves etc do look the same from what I remember,do remember it was a very big clump, probably thinking about it too bushy to be iris, quite a few more buds showing now, look a purpley colour, I'll be checking every day now and I'll post a picture as soon as it flowers, thanks for that :-))

It was a great concert Motinot, they were a bit before my time, Robs 8 years older than me, but I do remember all the songs as my older brother was a fan too, great atmosphere really enjoyed it, and every time I look at this it reminds me :-)
Ooo can't think which other you'd like Meanie??? there were some great orchids too but couldn't get near to get any pictures.
I'm off down the garden again in a minute Dawn, lol, it seems to have grown loads today, must be because its warm :-)
Can't wait to see what it is Leigh, I just put the seeds in a pot in the greenhouse October time and really forgot about them and the next spring up they popped, thats what made me think iris as know they need a cold spell to get them growing, think moraea is a member of the iris family too :-))

It won't be long by the looks of it, the really strange thing is I got 3 plants 2 look like the flowers are going to be a pinky colour the other looks blue, yet the seed was off the same plant.

Could be some interesting hybrids, or seed was from a hybrid and is reverting to the parents............
