Nice Kathy, I hadnt thought of putting them amongst the trees - I have them in the borders - that's it, I'll be dividing at the weekend :-)

I'm sure I've got lots of these in my back garden, under apple trees. I've been pulling them out, but I'm letting a couple of them flower to see what they are. Should I pull them up before they go to seed?

Thankyou all :-)), bit of a wild area so they're allowed to do their own thing.
Yes they grow great in the shade Dawn :-))
If you don't want them everywhere I'd cut the flower stalks off before they seed Sheilar they will come back next year as they are perennial, don't cut the flowers off too soon though as when they age they change to a lovely pink :-))

Oh, thanks for that Simbad. Are they a wild flower then, as I definitely did not plant them?

Beautiful. Are they tall?

Pretty sure they're not a wildflower Sheila, I've never seen them growing wild, but they do seed prolificly, probably a present from the birds :-)
Thanks Daglelie, they grow to around 18inches tall, I love them as they age and change colour :-)

Tellima grandiflora (thanks Kasy)
I found them growing 'wild' just like your picture with bluebells. Now I can see it was a very clever bit of gardening like yours Simbad

Thankyou DD must take another picture soon, some of the flowers are changing to pink now.
Amazing how some plants that self seed look better than any planned combinations isn't it Pimpernel :-)), even the Cow Parsley, that I spend my life trying to get rid of in the wood actually looks really pretty at the moment, think I'll just give up with that one, it doesn't last long and soon dies back, like a jungle at the moment.

So that is what it is Tellima grandiflora, I am better with the latin find it easier, I know weird !!think we have some of that....somewhere lol

I set about moving my self set plants the other day, I cannot believe it, they are everywhere. All re-set where they can happily spread.
19 May, 2012
They are very prolific aren't they,do love them though :-) I've been doing just the same today, trying to gradually clear the wood of all the ivy, its a very slow job, trying to do a bit each year, planted some hostas and heuchera and moved a few more of these around, the salvia forskaohlei had seeded everywhere too so moved a few of those around, love all these plants for free :-))

Hi Kathy, doesnt it take ages to divide and re-set or move things around, always pleased when its done though. I have lots more Salvia that I grew fron yours and Amy's seed to plant out. Just waiting til end of May.

It certainly does Dawn, I haven't divided any daylilies this spring, even though I've had a couple of people asking for divisions, if I split them I end up with so many plants, that I could sell, but then its backwards and forwards to the post office and just too much to do in the garden at the moment.
I've just been potting on some of Amy's salvias, the nemerosa pink, and blue ones? I was a bit late with my seeds this year with going on holiday :-) have a few of your impatiens nearly ready for planting out too:-),
also got some good size phytolacca plants, leonurus japonicus, campanula thyrsoides, lobelia, scutellaria zhongdianensis, and a couple of tall agastache varieties from my RHS seeds, don't know where all these plants are going mind :-)
