We inherited this rhododendron over 40 years ago when we moved in. It was leggy then and I was advised to cut it back hard. It has been cut back after flowering on several occasions but it is determined to be leggy. This is a photo taken last year. This year although it was magnificent I could not get decent photos because of the weather.

I do and I have just cut it back again so we will see if it is as good next year. It was this good for a week or so but the weather was so awful it blew all the flowers off it before I could get a decent photograph of it.

Yes, my white one flowered, got soaked over and over, flowers went brown, then fell off. Vagaries of Scottish weather, eh?

Afraid so. I do think azaleas seem to stand up a lot better. My small azaleas are in pots and doing well but still in bud. Timing is vital to get them to flower when the weather is due to improve. We have been unfortunate this year because we have had a lot of heavy rain together with gale force winds.

Thank you Gee. I love it because through our darkest times it seemed to shout of all that is good.

What an inheritance to get - it is lovely. You must look forward to seeing it every year.
