I live in the middle of all of these...and they have missed off the medlock valley and the Vale both woodland walks

Moley is quiet but the central character and very thoughtful ~ that sounds about right to me.

Water rat is nice in the book, very efficient too but i dont like rats otherwise.

toad was not nice at all but moley in particular was, ratty too in his own way.

we had it read to us in school when i was 10, i never forgot it.

We had a holiday next to a stream in France last year where we were convinced that all the characters from Wind in the Willows lived in the bank, it was a daily ritual to watch Ratty going about his business ,they are very regular creatures doing the same things at the same time of the day ....
Your photo is the reason our son spends so many week-ends in the Lake district Pp :)

A very flawed character, Mr Toad - means well, but never really comes out of his own little world. Probably over-compensating for a dreadful inferiority complex by all his boasting and egoism...blah, blah, blah!
I definitely think Pims is a Moley character. Have you whitewashed your burrow rececntly, Pims, when you should have been out in the sunshine "Simply messing about in boats!"?
