Delonix regia - Royal Poinciana, Flamboyant

My young seedling Royal Poinciana is leafing out. It grows slowly in a small pot, however, in the ground it can grow more than 6ft/2m per year (especially in a very hot spot). Photo taken May 16, 2012.

Yes, many trees in the Fabacae (Leguminosae) family grow extremely fast...some to more than 12ft/4m a year. In a pot they typically grow very slowly.
