Perennial

Perennial

One of the many perennials growing from a bunch of seeds planted several years ago. They look like dianthus flowers but I'm easily confused when it comes to perennials.

Awesome, that's what I thought! Not a fragrant flower like some of my other Dianthus varieties but it sure looks nice with all the different colored flowers opening.

I wish rock garden plants in general were more popular, they are very pretty but getting harder to find. It's disappointing that I almost never see rock gardens here. When I move I am going to make a large rock garden area for my daphnes and am going to line the border with several of my smaller dianthus varieties.

I have just started work on building a berm. I don't like the area I am building in since it is on the side of a garage but it is the best location for the daphnes to get shelter and plenty of light. I am going to be working on putting in rocks in the next week and then I am using broken down horse manure for the lower layer of topsoil. I hope it comes out nice, they are not terribly difficult to build but time consuming and hard to get the slopes right.

Hope it goes well - will be beautiful when it's all done.
