He and his girlfriend wander down our drive each afternoon to root around the borders for the enormous snails and slugs we get coming out after rain or a watering session. When they've finished, they wait patiently by the gate to be let back into the farmyard.

The do make a really nasty, stinky mess on the lawn and paths, though, PP, and when we're a bit slow about letting them out of the gate, they come into the porch to find us, and the dirt they make is indescribable!

I am sure you do not have even lizards in the garden. His pose is evidently that of a winner :))

Must get one! lol He is very fine!

The cats catch and eat the lizards, Katarina! He is quite a young duck, and gets bullied by the older ducks and the geese, so he has a sore patch at the back of his head. I think he comes into our garden for a bit of peace and quiet, so maybe not the pose of a winner, just relief!

Then take care for him. He evidently tries to thank you for this shelter by assistance when your husband is spading :)) That picture was lovely.

Very sadly, Katarina, that was another duck, and the neighbours have now killed and eaten her. This is a new one who has taken her place!

Don't blame you, Pp, the neighbours let about 80 of them roam all over the place, and they're a darned, stinky nuisance. Some one else in our little community (not us, honest) has complained to the town hall, and for a while, he cleaned up his act and shut the animals away, but a year on and we're pretty much back to normal! Well, we chose to live in an agricultural community, maybe we shouldn't be surprised.
