We have loads of ladybirds on our willow hedge at the moment, it's wonderful. If you see any and aren't sure which it is, then the Ladybird Survey site has a great PDF here: http://www.ladybird-survey.org/downloads/Ladybird%20descriptions_Info%20pack_2006_v.1.3.pdf
You can also record any observations - especially important if you come across harlequins.
