Sitooterie

New sitting area in sheltered corner
Nicknamed the Sitooterie
Was just a square of patio, but adding the zinc planters is great for lighting up the dark fence. They reflect the light really well and almost look lit up just by the sun.

Thank you Stickitoffee! I feel really encouraged to have a go at getting to grips with the garden, all thanks to the comments I have got since signing up to GoY yesterday! Hope this is the right way to reply to you... as still learning how to use the site!

Thanks Crissue! Still deciding to what to put in rest of planters on the patio. Went to Gardening Scotland last weekend which was great and have ordered a couple of Used Garden Books on Amazon for inspiration!

There'll be lots of choice I'm sure, I think you could also look on GOY Container gardening there may be a few ideas here too...good idea re: the used books...

The charity shops often sell the Dr Hessayon series of books and they are full of good sensible advice. My first buy when I stared to get interested in gardening was his Tree and Shrub Expert on the advice of Dougal Philip owner of Hopetoun Garden Centre. At that time they were relatively cheap. I probably have the whole series including the Bedding plant expert, the Rose Expert, the Vegetable Expert etc. Charity shops are also a good place to find the RHS gardening encyclopedia of Plants and Flowers. Its a good reference book even if you do not have the latest edition.

Thanks Scotsgran - I haven't tried these shops as getting them from TK Maxx and used books from Amazon was easier! I 've got myself an RHS A to Z (which I agree you can't recommend enough), a couple of the Expert books and I also like the Alan Titchmarsh latest series with books for Plants for Shade etc as they are cheap, cheerful and focused on specific needs.

The only problem is when I upload photos I can't remember the names!

I might upload a photo of my now full bookcase, as it shows I've now got the gardening bug!

I rename anything I want to upload then when I have to edit the piece the name is there in the coded letters signifying a photo. Sounds like you have a good selection of books, finding the time to read them is harder lol.
