Ha - you seem to be getting a thing for the triphylla group of Fuchsias! They'll take a bit more sun than the others too which is good for you probably. Thallia is a nice one..........

I love these long slender fuchsias, Alex. It must be going to do well for you!:)

30 May, 2012

Thank you Paul. ;o)

30 May, 2012

Yes, I seem to be collecting them lately. More sun is good, not that we're having a great spring so far!

30 May, 2012

Thanks Karen, so far so good. I've been planting basil plants today....try to keep the mozzies away?!?!?!?

30 May, 2012

Aaah!...So that's what's getting to mine!!!!
Right beside hostas...hostas fine...basil not!!! Urgh!
I hate them, hate them, hate them!!!!

30 May, 2012

I will plant anything to keep the mozzies out of my house (nothing works really)!!! Six months of getting bitten drives me nuts....I have lavender roll ons everywhere. We have net screens on all the doors and windows and they still get in!

Really lovely

Thanks Sheilar.

I like this type of Fushia too especially this coral colour.

Thanks Petaltracey.

I'm trying scented geraniums now, on the flies and mozzies front...I don't expect they'll do much either, though...

1 Jun, 2012

Do the scented geraniums smell even when not touched? This years solution is bed nets.

1 Jun, 2012

Not really, Alex...I might have to just put it on the coffee table and feel it a lot...lol

They don't come into air-conditioned rooms much...but we had a net in Nigeria as the electricity kept going off. The net worked a treat.

Here isn't so bad - at least I can keep the bedroom door shut and they don't seem to fly up as high as the velux window in the roof...

1 Jun, 2012

Ah, I have few of those geraniums then. They don't work.

We have loads of mozzies here....

They come into my shop even with the A/C on!!! They want food. One of them got my legs yesterday evening....out came the lavender roll-on.

Nets going up next week.

It's funny...they don't go for my OH at all. Consequently, he's really lax about closing doors and making sure that the nets are closed and all that. They just love me, on the other hand - and I'm compulsive obsessive about keeping them out!

It's very nice. I see many of this species of Fuchsia blooming right now here in San Diego.

2 Jun, 2012

This is a cutting off my m-in-laws plant. I have it in water and it bloomed first and now it has roots. Will be in a pot on the balcony soon.

2 Jun, 2012

It should do very well in a semi-shady spot in the garden, right?

I have Fuchsia boliviana seeds from neighbor Randallsd. I need to plant them soon.

2 Jun, 2012

I have F.boliviana Alba just germinating - they can take a while..........

2 Jun, 2012

I'm keeping this one in a pot Delonix. I will make another for the garden when this one grows a bit.
Fuchsia boliviana looks great.

2 Jun, 2012

F.boliviana Alba looks nice too. Seeds, I can't get away from them!!!

2 Jun, 2012

Meanie:

Is the F. boliviana 'Alba' from the seeds I sent you?

Don't get jealous Alex! lol! :>)

4 Jun, 2012

Lol....I will try not to. ;o)))

4 Jun, 2012

Alexandramou:

Do you want F. boliviana 'Alba' seeds? I can send you some. I have many and I don't think I'm going to plant but a few.

4 Jun, 2012

Thanks Delonix, I can't say no to a beautiful plant (even as a seed).

How long do they need to germinate?

5 Jun, 2012

They're the ones Delonix.

Slow germinators Alex, which is normal for all Fuchsia. I still have F.procumbens germinating ten months after sowing. Took four months for the first one to emerge.

5 Jun, 2012

That is a long time. I'm going to find space to keep pots with seeds that need a long germination period. (I said I wasn't going to do this again)

5 Jun, 2012

Meanie:

Wow! That's a long time! I never realized that Fuchsias took so long to germinate. Many people here buy them at the nurseries or get cuttings (the most common way to propagate).

6 Jun, 2012

They're a new one from seed for me too. Fast growing once they get going though!

6 Jun, 2012

"Fast growing once they get going though!" That's what makes it worth it.

6 Jun, 2012

It certainly eases the waiting!

6 Jun, 2012

I bet it does.
