Allotment Amaryllis beside shed 30-05-2012

My Amaryllis now beside our shed under the apple tree. Here they get some protection from the high winds &, when the tree is in full leaf, some protection from heavy rain.

I'm going to try a couple in the "rockery" near the house. Plant them deep and cross my fingers...............

Meanie, DON'T do that! If you want to plant Amaryllis in your garden do so only after frost has gone & lift them before the frosts return in autumn.
These are TENDER plants, think Dahlias! They are also very sensitive to wet conditions & will rot quite quickly.
The surest way to lose these bulbs is to plant them deep! At least half the bulb must be out of the soil or they will rot!
