My sage was just getting it's legs under it...and the warm/cold switch was too much. Sad...I had had the plant for a number of years and it even had bark on the trunk!...sage is usually a hardy herb here in the cold north. I suppose it was too old to be uprooted and transferred (3 times before it was settled)...going to look for more as the early summer plant sales have started. Got some Stevia rebaudiana, peppermint, and catmint free. The grocery store garden centre was closed for the year and they still had a few plants left unsold...so they just stuck a FREE to good homes sign on them.

Well done you getting 3 free herbs, and a grocer with a sense of humour, cannt have been A..a's then or can it?
The Stevia R , is that the sugar plant and does it really work? i have never tried it yet.
i lost my previous sage too, strange because in the uk i had never lost one and it gets colder/wetter there, however this one is supposed to be frosthardy, we shall see ...as you say it might be the extreme temp differences in a short space of time that is killing.

Yes...Stevia is a sugar substitute..and organic. I tasted one of the leaves ...nice! Just received a Vesey's catalogue (Canadian Co, from PEI.) in the mail...I'll be AWOL for a while! ;-)

I lost my 6 yr. old sage bush this spring. It started leafing out in March when we had the warm weather and when the frost returned in April ...it turned up it's toes! :-( What dishes would you use your pineapple sage in?
