Thought I would try these this year.

They come with a strap that fits into a groove a bit like a tie wrap, first time I tried them they slid down the pipe. So I fastened them as tight as I could off the drainpipe and left for few days to let the plastic mould to smaller size then filled them and fitted on drainpipe. Seem to be ok. I got them from www.podington.co.uk drainpipe clicker planter.
