thanks friends...! this is another example of the common name being confusing. There is the aruncus dioicus which is also known as "goat's beard"...X-) this plant is also commonly known as Salsify...and the root is said to taste like oysters when poached. haven't tried it...don't think I want to...not an oyster fan.
