Wow havent seen this before, another exotic one reminds me of an Orchid;0)

Mine is really struggling this year :-(

It's much taller than an Orchid Carole it reaches up to approx 6ft and eventually has yellow pea like flowers , this has done much better this year Andrew the rain is good for it last year it struggled in the drought ....

Amy - mine is the complete opposite. It's growing right beside the front door and should be at least four or five feet tall by now. It's made barely eighteen inches this year

Thanks Meanie , That's odd Andrew I wonder why that is , do you cover the crown of yours with straw to protect it in the winter ?

Yes, but being right against the house gives it good protection as well

Yes it would give it extra protection , maybe it's normal for them to have years of odd growth , I have noticed other plants that haven't done so well my Eremurus 'Foxtail Lily ' there's no sign of anything happening with them this year the previous year they were fantastic .. we will see what happens next year ....

Whereas one of my foxtail lilies appeared after several years 'off' <wonders whether I'm gardening in the anti-universe>
