They look happy and healthy. And a welcome from me to, sure you will find it informative and a bit mad at times with so many ladies on it ,I am well out numbered.

They look good. Lucky you, when I first put fish in my pond I got very excited as I had babies ones swimming around? They turned out to be Newts! Two of those original fish are coming up to 15 now but never any offspring.

Thanks Bjs for the welcome :O)
I think we have about 20 at various ages,i 1st noticed them in april i think, the black ones are a lot bigger now,i just hope they make it through winter :O(
We did start off with 6 large fish but 3 vanished was prob a heron :O( so we bought more plants for coverage as the cats use the pond to drink from aswell...and i dont trust them lol
we have newts in the wildlife pond Drc but its got duckweed prob at mo so i cant see what their up to lol

You have babies Joolz!!!! congratulations :-)
We had our first visit from a heron this year, suddenly all my fish disappeared, didn't come up to feed, went out one evening just as it was flying away, as you know our ponds quite deep and not one they can really wade in, I put a trip wire round the edge just as a precaution, after a week all the fish reappeared and no sign of the heron since, soo many fish in the pond now can't tell if he got any.

Yes kathy yippee, your pond is huge :O) trip wire is a good idea i wouldnt of thought of that, ive been adding more plants for coverage and hoping its doesnt come visiting mine again :O(

I was told to get a plastic toy windmill and site at the side of the pond to deter Herons. All I can say is in the last 5 years we have still seen the odd one on roofs nearby but not in our garden.

I put my garden chairs round my pond when I'm not about, that keeps the Heron away also I have netted it but I don't like the look of it, I want to put a sail over the top from three posts but will have to make holes in it so the wind doesn't rip it off though :o))
