climbing Ipomea (Ipomea Lobata ( Spanish flag))

This is a gem of a climber, easy from seed, annual, but what colour. A little late with it this year but still a joy to see.

Thrives in a hot summer!

So how did this one manage so well?

1 Sep, 2012

No offence to Bruce Sticki, but you should see it in a decent summer! It would also be able to bloom for a longer period.

i love it!! not sure it would grow in my garden though!

Sticki, you could grow this in a pot like mine.

Thanks Bruce, I might try that next year, does it need lots of sun?

2 Sep, 2012

Sun helps but mine is in partial shade getting sun early afternoon. If I manage to save seed I could send you some.

I have grown this climber from a pack of seed (Mina lobata) this year and am so pleased with it - beautiful colours - just a shame it's almost hidden from view by a Zebra grass in front of it - careless planning on my part! .......

many thanks bruce, dont worry if you dont save any, i can look out for them. how tall does it grow ~ it sounds rather nice shirley ~zebra grass and this climber together!

I didn't realise how quite how wide the Zebra grass would spread, Sticki! ... It may just have to be lightly pruned in order for the colours of the climber to be seen ... :o)

Gardening always seems to bring surprises doesn't it?!

Indeed, Sticki ... like me finding a Forget-me-not in flower today ... very odd!
