This is one of many very large ginger flowers at Quail Botanical Gardens that was in bloom. Photo taken Sept. 4, 2012.

Which Hedychium species to you have? Some species bloom in summer and the white and yellow ones bloom in late summer through late fall.

The ones we are growing are late in flowering, but I can see no sign of flowers at the moment....

Are they the yellow and white? Those typically bloom late.

No they are white and orange......but not as vivid as the ones in the picture.
