This was a small tree. I cut it down a few years ago. It was a really good producer.

I cut it down a couple years ago. I think the drought affected it. It just starting dying one day. It was such a really good producer.
This plant was close to the sidewalk and many people used to pick the green fruit. Also, when it was young someone tore the top off. This is why it had many stems.

I bet you miss it I would yes it more likely the drought killing it shame you had to cut it down.
At least it produced and looked lovely dispute vindictive people cutting the top I bet the people loved you giving them free fruit .

Yes, I wish I had another papaya like this one. They're easy to grow, though.
Yes, it actually looked really good after the top was ripped off.

Shame you could nt of taken a cutting from it prior. Yes I thought it looked great with out the top.

All these branches in the pic are from the area where it was torn off. So, in retrospect it was a good thing. :>))
It's extremely difficult to grow a cutting from papayas. I have never been successful. The branches tend to rot.
The branches and trunk are hollow. Bugs love to live in them...this is why they don't live long.

So it has enhanced it then by the top being chopped.
Shame they don't live long because of the bugs I would smear sticky honey on the trunk so the bugs got stuck lol.

Yes, the top was ripped off just above the hallow area.
I've use tangle bug treatment. It didn't work very well and caused problems to the trunk. I've even painted the trunks white so the bugs can't chew on the trunks. It didn't stop the bugs, they just went under the paint. lol!

lol dertermined lttle critters then shame there is nt a creature that would est the bugs then how about vaseline.
25 Aug, 2017
Vaseline would be horrible for plant tissue. It doesn't allow the plants to breathe. This is why tangle is not good for most plants, trees, also.
25 Aug, 2017
I never thought of it no being able to breathe
26 Aug, 2017
Yes, plants tissue needs to breathe, just like us. If they don't, the tissue starts to die.

Yes of course I should of known after reading the other day never put vaseline in you nose as it causes pynominia as it goes into the lungs.
