12 Sep, 2012

This is indoors. The cutting that I took did very poorly outdoors!

12 Sep, 2012

The cutting WAS good until I put it outdoors!

12 Sep, 2012

oh, you didnt lose it? :-(

12 Sep, 2012

No, but it seriously sulked a while!

12 Sep, 2012

did you take the cutting from the leaf edge? ie a piece of leaf?

12 Sep, 2012

I took a section of stem and it rooted quickly............

12 Sep, 2012

maybe i should have tried that way ~ into compost for seedlings?

12 Sep, 2012

Just like that!

12 Sep, 2012

Oh! Where did you find that one? Very nice.

And I love the one you are growing, really lovely.

12 Sep, 2012

The flowers on the one that I'm growing are about 10cm long!
I've just ordered seeds for the pure red form of F.boliviana.

That site has some rather choice Salvia too..............

lol..you two trading links...excellent! Forgot what I was going to say now....oh yes, it was just to say that Streps of all kinds seem to repay care and attention very generously. However, as I am not very caring or attentive, I resist buying them!

13 Sep, 2012

very nice but no salvias for me ~ they need sun!! think i had better find a site for ferns!!

flowers 10cm? thats amazing!!

13 Sep, 2012

Oh, Meanie...I've just come back and I was thinking that you were going to post a photo of your big black spider flower thing! Can't remember what it's called...do you know what I mean? And do you still have it?

13 Sep, 2012

The bat flower Karen?

13 Sep, 2012

Yup! That's the one, Sticki! I seem to remember that it was about this time last year that I saw one in the market and then Meanie posted his.

I though this plant liked cooler weather? I know they do best outdoors here in winter. This plant has way too many bug issues indoors (here in San Diego).

14 Sep, 2012

Sticki - I have some seed for a shade tolerant Salvia. I could send you some.

Karen - I gave it away when I moved as it was far too large for the growing space here!

Delonix - it didn't like it as cool (and wet) as it was here!

14 Sep, 2012

Yes, maybe it's too wet.

14 Sep, 2012

thats really kind meanie, i didnt realise some were ok in the shade? nice flowers, i like them!
