Clematis cirrhose 'Freckles'

Clematis cirrhose 'Freckles' (Clematis cirrhosa (Clematis))

A little £1.75 clematis bought from Morrisons in July. I potted it up into a larger pot and certainly didn't expect it to produce any flowers this year!

Very interested to see how this does Scottish. It's lovely. I have one of the winter ones in my border and it is growing ...no sign of flowers yet. I was told at Glendoick that the winter flowering ones don't do well in Scotland...we'll see!

Not sure about early Sticki - first time for me!
Karen - I read it was tender - it's in a pot for now as it's so small. I will try shelter it somewhere for winter and see how it goes.

I am very envious now Scottish as the one I sent away for from GW magazine has withered and died in the pot! It was given lots of TLC too ... I'm sure yours will thrive.

Maybe you gave it too much TLC Shirley. All I did with this was put it into a larger pot with some multi-purpose compost, watered it and sat it up against a wall. TBH - I think I only watered it the once :)

What a bargain Scottish but I have found Morrisons plants to be very good value. It is a lovely flower. Shirley, later flowering clematis often seem to die and then pop up again in the following year or even several years later, so don't throw it away yet. Pop it in to the garden in a sheltered spot and you may be lucky. That is assuming the nursery/garden centre has not replaced it for you.

Too late, Sg .. it came as a small plant from an offer ... didn't thrive and went to plant heaven ... :o(
