I love the colors on this Japanese maple. The small tree in the background with the red leaves is my sourwood seedling

Do you think they turn better colours if they are in the sun?

No sure Sticki, mine is in quite sheltered spot and gets the sun later in the day bit over the season it goes through a full range of colours

They need at least some sun to keep good color, if it is too shady they will look a lot greener and fall color won't be as good. If they are in too much sun they will burn (at least in this climate).

Mine gets some sun but not that much, its still greenish now, have to wait to see how/if it changes much. Thanks both.
Bit tempted to put one by my new pond?? It would get more sun than the other one? If I put it in a pot I could move it around for best light?
