Many of the Bachychiton species are in full bloom now. Photo taken at Quail Botanical Gardens (San Diego County) on Sept. 4, 2012.

So, it is winter flowering tree, right? And does it have a nice characteristics of the trunk? It is called lace-bark tree.

Some bloom in winter. Brachychiton is very interesting. Many species can bloom almost any time of the year. They're strange trees.

Yes, they're very popular attractive trees. They're widely used as street trees here in San Diego.
