Thanks Cinders, Bampy...Bjs, I am in complete agreement. Each autumn brings a sad dread...winter can be cruel.

The wind is cold and whippy today...the leaves won't last long. :-( We've had some lovely temps recently..but it can all change so quickly. Thanks Amy...I haven't been able to get out to take pictures of the ridges with the dry summer our colour has been very deep...but the leaves are dropping early. I'm so worried about climate change that I can't get excited about a mild winter...just let us have something close to normal...please. When I was younger the winters seemed to fly by because every weekend we were out on the slopes...skiing!

Wonderful fall colous Lori.Winter can be a drag if it is slippery outside, so I dare not walk outside. I have someone so dependent on me I can't take that risk. When you are younger these matters are not a trouble to you at all. Why should they be? As children we revelled in the snow....now it is dreaded.

Hub has had some health issues this summer, Dorjac...and your comment has made me aware that I should be more careful as I too have someone who depends upon me. thank you. Snow and cold is for the young and vigorous...I'm just having a hard time accepting my agedness!

Those trees are absolutely gorgeous! I never get to see fall colors here. Not unless I go to the mountains.

Gardening will keep you very young for a long time. :>)

Thanks D1...I'm sure of that too! (every once in a while my back, or my neck, or my arms will be in revolt...and I have to stop digging or stone moving or whatever I'm doing) It certainly keeps one looking forward to the next season. I think that's why I enjoy this climate so much...it has very distinct seasons, each with it's wonders and attractions... The only trees on the high ridges which still have their leaves are the oaks...and they are a wonderful dull orangey red this year. The forest has a new yellow/orange carpet. Was out walking in the forest today and the smell of the fallen leaves is delightful...bright sunshine today after a few days of rain...which we very much needed.
