Knoll Gardens, owned by Neil Lucas, is the best place in the UK to buy grasses, and showcases them magnificently in this garden. http://www.knollgardens.com.
This looked like a multi-stemmed Escallonia surrounded by a bed of Epimedium.

Hi Klahanie, yes I was sure it was an Escallonia (I used to grow a mature shrub in my garden) surrounded by a bed of Epimedium. It looked absolutely amazing :) Nicky
