Recently a nursing colleague & her OH embarked upon a few days away. The Forgotten World Highway runs between the coastal city of New Plymouth, dominated by the live volcano Mount Taranaki, & a small rural town called Taumarunui. There are no petrol stations between Whangamomona & Taumarunui, which is a distance of around 90 kms, so make sure you have a full tank! Very few people travel along this highway, but there are some lovely scenic spots to enjoy, including a tall waterfall .....photo to follow within the next day or two.
