Western hemlock ( not related to poison-hemlock, the weed which killed Socrates) is on the right. the stick in the middle belongs to coastal Douglas fir tree(Pseudotsuga) . The crooked trunks are of Arbutus menziesii native tree to this region. And the maple trees shining through from behind.

I think it is a beautiful property Katarina. It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful and peaceful it is. Mainly native species . Some parts of the property is impenetrable because of the undergrowth of salal (Gaultheria shallon) and prickly oregon grape (mahonia).....and we are keeping it that way. Although, I am trying to introduce few plants and trees not native to this land in the other parts.

I like Tsuga canadensis very much, it looks little bit like a cedar tree. I have one T. canadensis in the garden. Unfortunately, they are probably more fond of colder climate and shade as I see. Mine is on a sunny place and I see it really doesn´t thrive very much there. I see some "recovery" after long rainy days, but those were really rare this year.
Is this forest close to your place?
