They sleep just behind the shop. I dumped another batch of apples for them on the deer path far away from the house. No more roses left. They chewed them to the "bones".

Michaella is your property fenced? Ours is not.
Bik, what kind of animals do you have around where you live.?

Hi Klahanie, I have conifers and shrubs for fence, so they get in easily, but I have spent quite a lot of money on chicken wire netting which I tied to the trees and shrubs to stop them from coming in. So far it has been good for months, it is in the winter they get desperate to come in, they somehow force their way in.

Yes, winter is a problem we found couple of young ones dead in the past couple of years. I think they were hungry and ate some toxic plants.
I wanted to tell you Michaella that I like your "room-y" garden. Lots of quiet nooks and corners. Seems like you have lots of plants that deer would want to eat :-)

Bik, we have bears and cougars around here as well. Bears are common ......cougars occasional. The "wildlife people" would catch them and transport them to the remote areas. If they would leave them we would have less deer population, I am sure. But people are worried about their pets and kids.
I have not seen the rest of the animals on your list but I think that we do have coyotes.
Do you have lots of gazelles, they are beautiful as well and do they interact with people's gardens as deer has here?

no not, gazelles live in africa.

Sorry about my ignorance Bik. Maybe I should ask you about the Roe deer. Do they interact with people's gardens as deer has here?

no they dont. they just emerge from the woods some times in the hem of the town or vilages in the mountain.
except foxes and rabits most of them live in the mountains.

Thanks Bik. Now I know where you live. We were in Greece and did all the touristy things about 10 years ago. I like your country very much. Although, we have not been so far north where you live. What is the elevation of Xanthi?
