We are expecting great things coming from there next year Lulu :o)) some people set Garlic now I was thinking of putting some in that I brought back from France ........

Hello Jazzy:-O

10 Nov, 2012

Jazzy says hello too!
Sad to say but the earth is sodden. I think I can only plant next year now. It's been pasture land for 100's of years. I think it needs some extra earth and some good compost and maybe a tarp over some of it!

I know...everyone is now expecting great things!

Bampy, what shall I do? We have a ton of spare topsoil (with a few stones) and a ton of compost....shall I chuck it on now?

10 Nov, 2012

Doesn't she know how to jump? lol

10 Nov, 2012

Lou I would 'chuck' the compost on now most defo.!! I love your cottage allotment :)

10 Nov, 2012

They do know how to jump but hopefully they know better!

Lovely and huge GM. I had better get going on it!

10 Nov, 2012

You better had!! No excuses now ;)

And this morning is glorious!! Sunshine, blue sky and when I woke I found a little wren in my bedroom!

11 Nov, 2012

oh how lovely, thats really sweet

11 Nov, 2012

We had a small frost last night :(
I adore wrens Lou.

11 Nov, 2012

For a moment I thought you were talking about the garden gate Sticki! (because it is rather sweet!)

Lovely little wren and surprisingly calm and intelligent!

11 Nov, 2012

The gate is very sweet but yes I did mean the wren, lovely little birds!

11 Nov, 2012

Lou you could be planting Garlic bulbs now cos Monty Don said so!!

11 Nov, 2012

Oh I know, but the earth isn't quite ready, just big, soggy clods! Needs working a bit...I wanted to plant spring broad beans too...............

11 Nov, 2012

You probably can in a week or so!!! Keep digging lass...

12 Nov, 2012

It's rain cats and dogs here!! No digging today!

12 Nov, 2012

Poor excuse Lou!! (wellies, raincoat, gloves, hat, come to mind!) Lol

12 Nov, 2012

Can't dig in mud!!
Just waiting on the stud now...use the tractor to bring up a couple of tons of topsoil.....then put in my wee pathways....then a bit of compost...Might plant my garlic in pots.....!!

13 Nov, 2012

Ok Lou, you know best!!! Maybe just throw your compost on the top and let it lie there for the winter, like a nice winter coat :)

13 Nov, 2012

Oh I don't know best at all!!!! But got 4 tons of topsoil/compost arriving Friday! The studs topsoil is full of stones and all the compost goes straight to the farmer :(

I think I am going to make myself a trench and do my own compost in a big way!

13 Nov, 2012

If your patch is lying fallow for the winter then go for the trench method, brill. idea. plus some horse muck and straw too!

13 Nov, 2012

and a 'Yay' from me as well, looking forward to all that veg : )

16 Nov, 2012

The 4 tonnes of topsoil/compost arrived early this morning..Didn't take as long as I thought to chuck it around and David helped just in the nick of time, when I was starting to flag.
Am going to plant a bit up nowish, garlic and broad beans and cover the rest so it doesn't get too wet.

16 Nov, 2012

4 tons!!! blimey.. my garlic are barely sprouting

16 Nov, 2012

Amazing how much topping up the bed needed! Just need it to compact down a bit so I can get going on a pathway..
