Don't think you'll have a problem Carole, they're as tough as old boots. We used to prune ours regularly, but this is the biggest it's got :)
I must go out and smell mine Annie, never think to do that, don't know why. How's Riley doing, gotta keep us up to date with pics, they change so much, so quickly! :)

Mahonias are such good shrubs for winter ... lots of flowers on this one :o)
