Garrya elliptica

Garrya elliptica

Here it is more recently. Top right as you come in to the patio area. It may be that the trees shelter it but drop enough rain on the area to keep it alive. The wind keeps the area pretty dry otherwise. You can just see that the yew tree has a green trunk where I took all the branches back near the trunk and they grew in again fairly quickly and it makes a nice green stem for the tree. The patio was placed at the east end of the church which stood on this site. My OH was baptised in it in 1929. The church was a semi circular shape here and once you are in the patio proper there is a climbing hydrangea which has grown over to meet the JR. I've also got honeysuckle etc on that wall inside the patio.
