For my records. Planted in January 2011 ... very slow to establish.

I wish I had bought a larger specimen of it now Paul ... must stop looking to see how it's growing! .......

I had a tiny seedling in a crack above my garden wall in the old garden Shirley, and I couldn't pull it out so I had to leave it. It did take years to get going, but by the time we left it was so stunning! It fanned out across the wall and the neighbour's fence above it. The blackbirds nested and fed in it, and it was scarlet red in the autumn. A beautiful plant! I used to just prune out any branches that pushed outwards from the fence and that worked a treat.

That sounds lovely Karen ... if the rain keeps on falling the poor plant will rot ... or float away ... :o(

Is it really bad where you are as well Shirley? I feel very lucky this time as we've had a lot of rain, but not enough for flooding and today was a lovely sunny day.

Not too bad here Karen, but it is the first time I have seen the flower borders fill up with rain water ... I guess we've been very fortunate in that the ground wasn't saturated before the rains came here ... unlike the SW of the country ... lovely for you to have had a sunny day ... a few more wouldn't go amiss!
