Last years project

I built this last yr - hard work as I had to go down 4ft to allow for the cold winters. It was a good job I did as when January came the top 2ft was fozen solid and rose up like a mountain. I must remember to take a pic this winter.

You did a great job Galest, do you have any fish in it?

Thanks everyone and no fish yet just a big green frog which turned up a week after it was finished. I wanted to see how deep down it wld freeze before getting fish plus I havent found anywhere in this silly country that sells them yet. May have to take a trip and a net down to lake Balaton theres plenty there.
I did try a ball in the pond Bik as ive done that in others ive had but it just rose up and sat on top of the ice. When Winter is at its worst even the concrete paths rise here, so much so that I cant open the gates to get the car out and in a bad winter it can stay like that for up to a month.
Talking of the green frogs has anyone seen a frog that can eat a bird as this one does! He can even swim across the pond dragging the bird in his mouth. Quite funny really as it took him nearly an hour to get it out the pond and you cld see he wasnt going to give up.

How big is that frog? We have only the little tree frogs arround but they have a big voice.

The body is roughly the size of a tennis ball, its bright green with black markings. I did have a look at tree frogs but they arnt from these parts and too small compared to this one..
An update...... a friend came round today who from these parts and hes a Marsh frog. I asume hes a she as its too big for a male, they are only 12cm where as the female grows to 17cm which is more this ones size.

That's a lovely pond, I really like how you have grown the little plants onto and around the edges.
