That's a nice idea. Sadly this is north facing.

Just up to about 11am..............

Looks quite happy there!

I'll put the basket in the shed for the worst of winter. If they come through I'm going to plant them under the ornamental Cherry next spring.

It's looking very healthy! Good job! :>)

It is shockingly healthy Delonix!

5 Dec, 2012

It's getting pretty big. It makes a really good ground cover.

7 Dec, 2012

That's my hope. I'l replenish the basket with new and replace the one in the ground with that one if it cops it next winter.

You don't think it'll live through winter?

11 Dec, 2012

Not if I don't move it soon. Once it's in the ground next year it'll need a mild winter.

So, it must be getting colder?

We're in for some cold weather, also. Even though, the high temp today was 74ºF (23ºC). The highs are only going to be 62ºF (17ºC) by Thursday through this weekend. BRRRRRR!

Minus seven last night..............

12 Dec, 2012

The dreaded cold minus seven!!!

12 Dec, 2012

Did it come through the cold? Amazingly in the ground floor balcony, just across the entrance from us, there are Petunias alive with flowers on!!! The guy has done nothing at all to give them any protection. There are also Geraniums alive & flowering as well!

My Petunias died months ago & my Geraniums are either protected in the most sheltered corner of the balcony or in the hanging baskets, still hanging up, but as far inside the balcony as I can get them. When I last looked at them a few days ago they still looked to be alive but not very happy!

This was starting to look a wee bit unhappy, but has perked up no end the last few days.

My Sollya heterophylla still looks good too, as does the Aloe striatula!
My Salvia discolor in the shed looks dead though..............

16 Dec, 2012

Sollya heterophylla is aka the "Bluebell Creeper", seems it originates from Oz. Seems like a plant I'd like to grow!

Aloe striatula it seems is a very hardy Aloe. It yours the yellow or red form?

Salvia discolor or "Andean silver-leaf sage" it seems is a rare & tender plant. It's a shame you've lost it!

16 Dec, 2012

Remind me in the spring and I'll take a couple of cuttings from it.

I'm hoping that the Aloe is the yellow form - that's what it said on the tag.

Gutted about the Salvia..................

I'd like that! :-))
