How good you are in identification of birds, Klahanie! Congratulation.

Sticki, They must have large lungs :-)....they are so noisy and no, it is not consider to be a song bird. Seems like they are always very upset and yelling kiss-ca-dee...kiss-ca-dee.

Thank you for your note Paul and Terra.

maybe like our magpies and crows ~ they make a terrible racket ~ as if they are arguing all day!

Katarina, thank you for your compliment but these are very common birds here ....but I do have an interests in that direction.

Cute Magpie. They suppose to have a large "vocabulary"
of sounds and be very intelligent (for a bird)
The great kiskadee has a high pitch sound which makes it so annoying. We have some ravens on the Island and they can be annoying as well. Sometimes I yell at them and clap but they ignore me.

ravens are scarily big! we have famous ravens at the Tower of London!

Loved it Sticki. They are very intelligent as well. But the sound of them I can live without.

have you heard the call a puffin makes?
26 Jan, 2013
Puffin? My goodnes Sticki I have not seen one of these creatures in real life. Do you have them around your coast?
26 Jan, 2013
yes they are BUT they only like isolated islands, i have seen one in the distance but you have to go at the right time of year, i love them! 'the clowns of the sea'
they seem to well, i was going to say hum but its more of a moan!!! they are funny

reminds me a bit of the blue jay screech. thank goodness they only do it once in awhile, not constantly :)
I've had blue jays wake me up.
27 Jan, 2013
You are right, Blue jay's "song" is high- pitched as well....but do you have stellar jays around? They can be even worse. Just a loud screech. Beautiful birds though.
27 Jan, 2013
I've never seen a stellar jay. According to my field guide it would be a rarity to see one this far east.
27 Jan, 2013
We have more Stellar's than Blue jays. As I think about it I have not seen Blue Jay for a long time.
