Shade Garden progress 2

Shade Garden progress 2

From the turf seat. The deciduous shrub on in the centre is Sambucus plumosa aurea (Red Berried Elder). the Obelisks have ivy planted in them to train up and add some height at the front of the planting....my idea was to use them as a sort of marker for the edge of the pathway through this shady area.

Didnt this used to be your veggie patch Karen ?

Yes Amy, I sat on it every day of the second week of the Olympics...that was our summer last year!

Yes Cinders. Daft place for veg, as nothing would grow in the shade except rhubarb and lettuce! Now I shall be using the sunny space around the greenhouse for veg in pots.

I'm also going to repaint the shed back to dark brown.

Lets hope you get to use it more this year :o)

Yes,there's always hope!

I always liked the shed in blue but think it will blend in more when you take it back to brown, colours can be a bit stark in the garden, not as natural looking I know. But after saying that I have always liked it in blue, maybe it is time for a change. lol, just like yer mother. nothing stays the same for long, chip of the very old block.

lol...true. I just think it sticks out like a sore thumb now. It looked great with the raised beds there for some reason and now it just looks odd. It will need repainting anyway, as close-up you can see the paint is deteriorating. Outdoor paints are never that great are they.....time to get the sander out! I'm an absolute demon with my Black and Decker Sander! :)

The new plants are really working already adding brightness on a dull day :o)

I like to get the power tools out too Karen, well I did, not so keen these days. lol.

Yes Annie, although I can now see a bit of blue! The light is different now, to what it was when we came back from hols. Definitely on the downhill run toward spring! :)

Mmm....don't care for brown Karen, what about one of those soft grey/greens or pale pebble colours?

1 Feb, 2013

Well, I've bought a dark green to do my arches and greenhouse. If there's enough, I'll use that on the shed. If not, I think it will be very dark brown.....I want to 'shrink' it you see. X

Ah, I see what your saying....I felt I was typing that with an Irish accent....lol! Green sounds better....how about some climbers growing up it?

2 Feb, 2013

There is actually a lovely climbing hydrangea, but you know what they are like.....it might do something this year, it's been in for two years now!

2 Feb, 2013

They do take a while Karen, mines on a north facing wall and has taken 5 years to really take off......I'm going to give it a good mulch of compost in Spring and prune some trees near it so there's more light.

...sigh...I might have to wait a while yet then!

3 Feb, 2013

I thought you had a TV screen in your garden Karen.

7 Feb, 2013

You feeling well Linda? ;)

8 Feb, 2013

Despite the awful winter your Turf Seat is looking remarkably fresh and green;0)

Thanks Carole, I think many of you have had a lot worse time of things than us. I just hope we get some nice warm spring and summer weather this year!

The blue rectangle looks like a large flat TV Karen.

8 Feb, 2013

Lol...you are one crazy woman! Who has a blue telly? You are definitely having a 'creative' episode Linda! ;) No, seriously, it does look odd now, it's getting a make over soon.
