gold at the bottom of the garden (Eranthis hyemalis (Winter aconite))

when the sun was shining yesterday morning these looked stunning, but by the time I got my camera no sun and closed flowers. Pretty non the less.

They do that don't they close up as soon as the sun goes in , they look glorious when they open up in the sunshine ......

Lovely to see them appearing through the beech leaves, such a brave little flower with that ruff....spring must be on it's way! Lost mine a couple of years ago for some strange reason....:((

I have just planted some seeds of Eranthis hyemalis 'Orange Glow' . Have you any idea how long it will be until they flower.

the self sown ones flowered in their 3 rd year. there doesnt seem to be much growth in the first year and then just leaves in the second year.

Thats not too bad then. I got some Fritillaria imperialis seeds too and I might have to wait seven years before they flower.
