At the Paradise Point Resort there's most likely thousands of these growing around. It's a very common shrub in San Diego, CA. Photo taken on Feb. 28, 2013.

Palmate,
Thanks! :>)
There's endless varieties of Acalypha wilkesiana. I have 4 varieties. I still would love to get Acalypha 'Haleakala', which I used to have at my other house.

The only one I ever had..wasn't all that colorful, and it died fast one wet winter around 2006. Dont miss it. But! would love to try some of the best ones out there.

I had several in Fremont. They did very well and grew so fast up against a south wall. They would loose about 40 percent of their leaves in winter, though. Here in San Diego they can loose a few leaves. This winter the varieties I have...have been growing like crazy!

Celadine is still in leaf. So is P.obtsum. Plastic pink is bare,so is my other white Celadine "looking" Plumeria only this one has smaller duller leafs.
Andy- How are the Psuedobombax down there? Mine is shedding leafs. I'm hoping this is the year it blooms. Its plenty old and large enough.

My plumerias are mostly bare right now. Some varieties always keep some leaves, though.
The Psuedobombax I saw last week at the SD Zoo had big buds. They are very close to flowering.
The mango trees here have big flower spikes, they will be flowering soon.
