we are just envious, last night it was -4 and today will reach the dizzy heights of about 2.
If we walked barefoot on the beach the only thing we would get is frost bite ....LOL

I was actually walking along the whole beach at the ocean's edge (just my feet in the water). The water temp wasn't too cool. Of course, I wouldn't go all the way into the water because the water is still way too cold for that. There were many people in the water, though (I thought they were crazy, because they didn't have wet suits!).

;-) because it is the extreme opposite weather to what we have!
this is spring [allegedly] and i have 3 inches of snow, the wind is making it feel like minus 6 and a lot of people in the UK have worse!

I've been reading all the comments about all the horribly cold weather in the UK. It sounds just horrible! I hope you receive some nice warm spring weather very soon!

It's not just happening in the UK, though. Most of the U.S. has been experiencing horribly cold weather (with snow), also. The cold weather has even been affecting South Florida, where it's always warm to hot and humid.

Here in Southern California we've been in a dome of high pressure. The weather has been warm to hot and very sunny. It almost feels like summer is here. :>)

our only hope is that last march [2012] we had wonderful weather followed by a dismal summer [except for the golden olympics] so i think we are all hoping that since we have had a dreadful march maybe we will have a good summer ~ so the opposite of last year? if not we will all be tempted to leave the country!

Yes, I hope it means you will have a warm summer! I can't imagine having a really cool, rainy summer (that's what most people in the UK commented last summer, anyway).

Summer of 2010 we had a very strong La Niña, it caused us here in San Diego (and most of southern California) to have the coolest summer in almost 100 years. However, in late summer and fall the temps were very hot...and I don't think it was a cool as your last summer.

Unfortunately, a long-term forecast is just an educated guess. There's never any certainty. All you can do is just hope for a good warm summer.

Here in inland San Diego I just want normal temps. It's usually much hotter (where I live) than downtown San Diego, where the official temp is taken. Last early summer was so nice and beautiful...then, the extreme heat and humidity came in from the monsoonal flow and lasted for such a long time. A couple days it was so hot, humid it made me literally sick! (my a/c couldn't keep the house cool enough!).

What I wouldnt give to feel a little of that warmth for a while......Still so cold here with a bitter east wind..........

Yes, you need some warm weather there. I've been hearing all the complaints on GoY of how cold it's been there in the UK. You all really need some warmth!

Walking in the water? I live 5 mins from the sea, if I put my feet in the water they would turn blue and fall off!! we have the heat on, and I have 3 sweaters on as well, and this is the sunny soft south of England ....not!!

I can't imagine such cold weather, we've had such beautiful warm, sunny weather for a month. Today's high temp is going to be 77ºF (25ºC) here where I live (which is perfect for me, because it feels much hotter in the sun).

Yes, the water felt pretty good, it felt warmer than I expected it would be. I walked a mile with my feet in the water. :>)

Lucky you, we had some sunshine today, managed to get out in the garden, but still had 3 layers on...lol

Yes, we've been very lucky, as even now the nights and mornings are very mild.

I don't own three layers of clothes! LOL! :>)
Seriously, all my clothes except for a few jackets are all spring and summer clothes.
