I did fertilise the area well, Karen, and it has paid dividends. It won't be a 'summer' area, but I love it as a spring corner. It does have a few summer-flowering plants in it, though - like Geranium phaeum, foxgloves and Thalictrum.

Ah - you noticed! It was a great opportunity to get more Hellebores. :-D)
It's a pleasure to look at now, rather then an eye-sore. The other part of the area on the other side of the apple tree is a mess - I suspect I'll be dealing with that soon.
