This is one of the very early varieties, it was the very first one we bought over 20 years ago, so surprised to see it is still being grown, happy memories, we never did very well with it in the Midlands, but, that was before we knew how to really care for them.....

This was the first one I bought...doing well for me Dd. Is there anything I should know about caring for them ?

Purple Palace was put forward as one of the plants in each decade chosen as a favourite for that decade of Chelsea's centenary. I had one and the top blew off in gale (those damned vine weevil grubs) and I never did find it! Amazing that it still attracts so much attention. Gralew... just beware of vineweevil maggots eating the root in the pot. The plant fails to thrive. Depot, shake off the compost. Soak the root for 24 hours. Inspect carefully before repotting in fresh compost. Or plant in the ground. I have just blogged about heuchera rescue. Sorry to intrude on your post Karen.

Dorjac has said it all Gralew, they are beter planed deeper too, do better in the ground sometimes, because of the vws......

HI DDaisy I have decided to plant more of them in the garden soil. Probably when I have reviewed what to do with the semi shaded half of the border nearer to the house.

Good idea, more chance of surviving in the ground....
