Looks very healthy. Are those all babies around the edges?

Sorry Tuesdaybear, I didn't realise I had not answered your question :(
Yes they are offshoots and can be potted up separately.

That is so much better than our one. I can see it will thrive on kindness. Should I wait till the flowers die back before splitting off the babies. It is interesting to hear Derekm say his never got around to flowering either. Do they need to be a certain age before they start flowering ?

I had this one several years before it flowered.
You could split it now, when the flowers are still there, but you may damage them. I don't think the plant will mind either way.

Thank you for the advice. Do you use bought cactus compost or just what you have on hand? I did mean to ask that earlier.

I use ordinary potting compost, with some grit mixed in.

Thank you. I have repotted the aloe in that mix. I now have the flowering one plus three iffy looking babies.

Good. They'll be all right after a while. Have they got roots ?
4 Aug, 2014
The main one had large roots so I did not mess it up too much just potted it into a larger the pot of the mix you suggested. Of the three smaller ones, two peeled off easily with some roots, the third came off as a two bud piece with a single root. I could not see any way of splitting it so potted it up as one. The are all looking very perky this am so I think they will be fine. I have put them out of direct sun for a few days.

They should do well ... :)

One of the flowers has left a large seed pod. I will get a photo later and put it on.

Hi Hywel, this is 1 that I had when I was a teenager, mine never got to the flowering stage though, Derek.
