That's nice to hear! :-)

The roses have surpassed themselves this year, thank goodness, hoping they will still be out for our next NGS do.....

When is that? Have you had your first one?

I'm actually thinking of removing this one. it's very black spotty again, and I'm not keen on the floppiness/loose form of the flowers, or the scent. My favourite yellow rose, Graham Thomas is growing well on the other side of my arches, so I might not keep this one. Funny aren't I? The other one I couldn't live with is another very popular rose.....that really bright pink one...zephirine Drouhin.

making a list of the roses you name, for future ref!

Sob, sob. My Zepherine Drouhin is very poorly. I've cut her back and fed her, and my fingers are crossed that she revives.
The main reason I chose 'Golden Showers' is that the trough faces north, and 'G.S.' is recommended for that aspect. Also, because of my colour scheme, I had to have a yellow rose and purple Clems. So - perfect for me! :-))

Yes, and I think I might relent! I need a yellow rose there too. If it doesn't entirely defoliate from Blackspot I might keep it!

I sprayed my 'Pink Perpetue' and it's fine now. I can't see any blackspot on GS yet, thank goodness.

Hi B yes we have had our first one, back in June (did a blog on it) our next is on Sunday 7th July.
Have taken ZD out, got so fed up with all the problems she gave us.....

She's certainly giving me some heartache, Dd! Sorry I missed your blog. Good luck for the next opening.

The problem being it is the Wimbledon finals duh!! most gardeners seem to be tennis fans also, so it will be a toss up who wins? more cake to eat up......

Oh NO! What a shame - I hope the lure of your garden wins.

I'm really fond of Golden Showers as we had it in our first garden in the 70s...I know what you mean though Karen, the flowers don't last and 'shower' the petals everywhere. We have Graham Thomas and this year it is so full of blooms which last a few days longer and more gold in colour. Still a lovely one though Barbara....:)).

I agree - the flowers don't last. Never mind, the plant has plenty of buds.
