Instant lawn

Suddenly remembered that I'd bought this at Lidl, ages ago - I'd put it in a cupboard until I'd sorted the garden enough to make room for it, and then forgot it. First time I've ever been able to lie down in my garden - getting up wasn't as hard as I thought it might be, though the paving was hard indeed. I should get some underlay, I think

lol exaactly, stony and bumpy underneath! but at least it's better than lying directly on the paving

I keep forgetting to check the LIdl websit efor their current and upcominng specials, they may have these again, or may already have had them again. I got it a couple of years ago, only just got it out. Of course, one could always write to the artificial lawn sellers and ask if they've got any offcuts ...

We live in a very touristy village with greens along by the river. Parts of the grass get totally worn out during the summer season & it is difficult for it to recover over the winter, so in a couple of spots they tried out artificial grass.
There were a lot of adverse comments about "false grass" but now it is down it really looks very good & pretty natural, - doesn't look like a carpet!
I don't say they could use it everywhere but in small areas of wear it is ideal.
Yes some underlay might do the trick Fran. :))

lol soon, I hope I won't even be needing the mat! (well, soon when sitting-out weather comes back).
"fake grass" does get a bad press; in the early days it wasn't very realistic, and one could get burned from sliding on it, don't know if that's been improved. I'm sure I saw a website that had "meadow grass", tall, with ruses etc in it, but do you think I can find the flippin' thing again?!

Haven't heard of that, but I expect you have searched "imitation grass" ?!

lol yes, several times! kept getting cricket-ground and bowling-green type stuff, even when I put "artificial meadow grass" in quotes, so that those words should have been mandatory for any search result. Sometimes search engines are a pain, they seawrch for each word in the key phrase, not the words as a whole - even though words in quotes are supposed to be taken as a single item.
Ah well, once I've settled in to the new place and don't need it, I'm sure to find it again!

I saw them on the Lidl website, i'd never seen them before either. Every now and then I remember to check the site for upcoming offers, and these were on there.
Usually by the time i wake up on the day and get down there, what i wanted has all gone, but as I was dteremined to get these, I stayed up all night to makde good and sure that I was thre early!
I was only going to get a couple, but a bloke was piling his trolley full of them, so I thought I'd better get a couple more while I was there and they were there.
This one was doing duty as a bedside rug before the weather warmed up enough to make lying out practical; feels like grass on bare feet, but warmer and no lumpy bits!

your new place looks really lovely in the blog....

thanks, it's about a million percent better than here, and this was ten thousand percent better than the previous, and so on ...
shouldn't think i'll find anywhere better than the new place, so i'm prepared to invest heavily in it - it'll be my home, not just where i live, if you see what I mean

The housing agent said she woldn't mind one of them, but she doesn't qualify - these are for people who want to retire out of London - maybe out of other cities as well, but mostly London, as you'd expect, given the size of that dinosaur!
I found it via the Seaside and Country Homes, or rather, they found it for me. I don't know what their rules are for other parts of the country, but might be worth checking out
