Todays Work

Taken out Hardy Geranium - Patricia and replaced it with Hemeracallis Golden Chimes it looks empty though now, it is amazing how much space the Geraniums take up.

Thank you Pam, it is neater now the geraniums have been lifted and transplanted to a more sensible place. Another plant with the wrong description label in, they got too big for the spot they were in and swamped the rose bushes so just had to be moved. I found the correct label when I lifted them it was buried in the soil. lol

Thanks Moti, it was hard work removing the h.geraniums but all done, while I was at it I took out the alpine strawberries which were going potty on the opposite side just left some that are underneath the seat on the raised border to give the birds a treat. :O)

They certainly do take up a lot of space and now and then we have to come down hard on them!!! I like the space you have created and it was well worth doing. It all looks so pretty and neat.

Some geraniums do get a bit out of hand. I had to remove quite a few of mine too...a couple of years ago. I now try to restrict myself to small ones! :)

I was going to move them last year and never got on with it and they were even bigger this year. lol. they have gone into a border which had a bit of spare room. I cannot bring myself to throw them out altogether. I like the small flowering geraniums as well, have one or two in the front of borders now. Just me getting things in the wrong place, ah well we learn as we go along. In fact these were not my fault the label was incorrect, found the right label buried in the compost when I moved them both. :O)

I love your garden, so inviting...Question? Is Golden Chimes very late?

Sorry Wells no idea, it was in flower when I bought it, it is a Day Lily. Think it is earlier than this when it starts flowering but keeps going on while ever it has buds to open up. I saw it in the Crocosmia Gardens at Caistor and just had to buy it. It will be back next year for me hopefully.

So, the geraniums led you up the garden path, Olive? ;-)

They certainly did Mouldy, all chopped back and replanted now and they have grown back well in their new homes. Hope they flower as well in the right place as they did this year in the wrong place. They were so tall it is much better in this border now.:O)

A friend's mum, when we were in our mid-teens, used to use nail scissors to do their wee lawn...by torchlight!
O.C.D was around then. Lol.

oh no what a sight that must have been. lol :O) had to use shears once upon a time when I had no mower but never got down to nail scissors. lol :O)

That poor woman had a mania for order & cleanliness way back in the mid- 60's, long before I ever met her son at school.
He & his dad had learnt to live with it.
The 1st time I ever watched that comedy series with Ronnie Corbett, called 'Sorry', where the dad character is always being banned to his garden shed by his wife was like being thrown back in time, as my pal's mum did the same to his dad.
He, my pal's dad, didn't mind.
He had his pipe, radio, paraffin heater in winter & crates of home-brewed beer & wine!
The life of Riley, in fact. Lol.
